SERTRALINE - (Zoloft, Lustral)
side effects and withdrawal symptoms
SERTRALINE is an antidepressant in a group of drugs called Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs). Serotonin influences the cardiovascular, renal, immune and gastrointestinal systems, and is essential to regulate body temperature, heart rate, blood pressure and the sympathetic nervous system.
Patients on SERTRALINE have much higher rates of sexual dysfunction than those on other antidepressants. SERTRALINE was approved and entered the market in 1991 and by 2006, SERTRALINE became the most prescribed antidepressant on the United States retail market.
Because SSRI’s influence numerous systems of the body and brain, stopping SERTRALINE abruptly can cause what is termed a discontinuation syndrome. Gradual dose reduction (also known as tapering), combined with specific nutritional support is recommended to help the body and brain during the withdrawal.
The POINT OF RETURN Withdrawal Program was specifically developed to address the extensive depletion issues caused by SERTRALINE, while also providing support to the body and brain during the withdrawal process.
