PROBIOTICS

Probiotics are friendly bacteria which reside in our mouth, stomach, small and large intestine. The gut and the brain are very similar tissues both in embryologic origin and function. This is why when some people taper off either benzodiazepines (benzo’s) or antidepressants, go through both brain and gut anguish. For example, whenever a new narcotic is developed it is still tested on guinea pig intestine to determine how strong or potent it is. This had been the tried and true evaluation for more than fifty years in pharmacology. Doesn’t this give new meaning the phrase “go with your gut instinct” or “intuition” on a decision?

As humans we live in constant association and cooperation with our gut bacteria. Our own body consists of some 10 trillion cells (building blocks).
